Babylon Jug-Handle
View of Babylon Jug-handle from a distance |
You can reach the Babylon Arch trailhead by following google maps navigation. Take I-15 until the Leeds/Silver Reef exit (exit #22) and follow Leeds through Main Street until you reach 900 North. Follow 900 North for almost 4 miles and pass the Sand Cove trailhead. Turn right onto the Babylon Arch trailhead. If your car has high clearance and exceptional four-wheel drive capabilities, you can drive all the way to the fence where the trailhead is. We parked soon after the right turn and walked the rest of the way to the Babylon Arch trailhead. When facing the trailhead, you can walk to the left to find both this Jug-handle arch and the other unnamed arch high in the cliffs (I named it Babylon Window since I don't know the name of it).
The drive in to Babylon Arch trailhead |
Whether you're driving or hiking, watch out for the desert tortoise! We saw two of them on our hike.
Other arches in the area include:
* Babylon Arch
* An unnamed arch high up in the cliffs near the Babylon Arch trailhead, that I named Babylon Window
* Painted Arch
* an arch that I took a photo of off in the distance from Babylon Arch trailhead
