Ribbon Arch

Ribbon Arch, Arches National Park, Moab, 2023

This was our route to Ribbon Arch, which is the circle up at the top.  The left jut in the middle was Christmas Tree Arch.  Our starting point was the green dot, but we did the primitive trail and came through the North Window at the end of our hike.  It was snowy and icy so we had to figure out the safest way up and down each level of our hike, otherwise it probably would have been a more direct route.  We did see 3 cairns marking the path to Ribbon Arch, but that was all, and they were near the end of the hike.

2023 - Ribbon Arch finally came into view up high in the cliffs

2023, James tried to get a closer view, but if you go too close then the arch goes out of view

2023, Ribbon Arch, and in the bottom right side of this photo is Alcove Arch, but we didn't realize it at the time, otherwise we would have gone in for a closer look

as you approach the cliffs the arch goes out of view

The sun was also in the very worst spot for pictures, shining right behind the arch.  My husband tried to shield the glare from the sun for my photos

Right next to my husband James' left ear is Alcove Arch - I wish we'd realized it at the time!

2023, I love how you can see icicles hanging from the arch

great view of both Ribbon Arch and Alcove Arch

our hike back to our car - beautiful views, but very cold

Lizzie had fun on the trail, though

This is the route we were meant to take, we were pretty close to this route, even in the snow, and with the addition of Christmas Tree Arch.  On this hike we saw Double Arch, Little Duck Window, Christmas Tree Arch, Ribbon Arch, Alcove Arch (without realizing it), North Window, South Window, Biceps Arch, and Seagull Arch.
